The Indian Venture Capital Association was established in 1993 and is based in Delhi, the capital of India. IVCA’s mission is to promote the development of venture capital and private equity industry in India and to support entrepreneurial activity and innovation. The IVCA also serves as a powerful platform for investment funds to interact with each other.

The IVCA pursues this mission through the following objectives:

Public Policy :
  • Promoting sound public policy on issues related to tax, regulation and securities through representation to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Ministry of Finance (MoF), Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other Government departments.
Statistics :
  • To collect, analyse and publish performance information. This involves an annual survey of private equity and venture capital managers and their investee companies. The survey is conducted for IVCA by Thomson Financial. Results will be available in the IVCA Yearbook (planned publication date  Q1 2008).

The metrics are derived by taking cash flows from investee companies and generating IRR's using the same computation formula used by Thomson Venture Economics across the world. Hence it is possible to compare performance figures in India with other markets.

  • Participation in the Deloitte Annual Survey titled “Global Trends in Venture Capital Investing”. IVCA participates in this international survey along with 15 other venture capital associations, such as Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA), National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and the European Venture Capital Association (EVCA).

This survey identifies current attitudes of venture capitalists and private equity investors around the world regarding international investing. The survey also tracks long-term trends, enabling our members to benchmark the firm’s global strategy against overall trends in the industry.
Professional Development :
  • Provide a forum for the professional development of members and those interested in the venture capital and private equity industry through educational and training events. IVCA has established a partnership with the European Venture Capital Association (EVCA), founded in 1987 and focused exclusively on the professional development of investment professionals.
